Alignment of people in organizations to achieve the most effective work environment is a classic research topic. From the pyramid builders in Egypt to the armies of Genghis Khan and from the first factories in the industrial revolution to Google's playful offices, thinking about how to coordinate people has always been a key element in successful endeavors. However, the basic assumptions, the ethics, and the solutions have been different in every age.
Our mission at AVMK Research is to study organizational alignment and misalignment in 21st-century businesses. Our approach is to concentrate on business processes, organizational structures, management concepts, and strategies. We will avoid psychology, sociology, leadership theory, motivational concepts, and group dynamics as those topics are covered sufficiently by other sources.
